Why can you not create more than one Express Entry profile for Canada PR?

Why can you not create more than one Express Entry profile for Canada PR?

A Canada PR visa is everyone’s dream and has been for many years. Everyone is aware of how Canada is the top destination for immigrants. How it offers permanent residency to thousands of people each year. There is one main reason in comparison to other first-world countries everyone wants a Canada PR visa.

It is not just the ease of access and approval in 6 to 12 months. But after living in Canada for 1065 days, you can apply for Canadian citizenship. This in comparison to other first-world countries is the greatest advantage of getting a Canada PR visa.

To apply for a Canada PR visa, you must apply to the Express Entry (EE) System. This is common knowledge amongst the masses. However, at times people feel if they create multiple EE profiles then their chances of getting an ITA for PR will rise. But on the contrary, IRCC does not pay any attention to it.

So, the question here arises, why can you not create more than one Express Entry profile for Canada PR?

Apply for permanent residency in 2024 now

To know why you can not create more than one Express Entry profile, you must know the purpose of why you are creating one in the first place. If you are aware then kudos, if you are a new reader/PR enthusiast, read on.

To apply to the EE system, you must do the following:

  • Firstly, apply online and qualify to apply under 1 of the EE sub-streams:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Secondly, meet Human Capital Factors:
    • Age
    • Education
    • Work Experience
    • Language Skills
  • Also, get a CRS score as per the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
    • This CRS score acts as the basis for your selection.
  • Besides, you need to match the CRS cut-off shared in periodic EE draws.
    • As per the draw category CRS cut-off, you will get an ITA for Canada PR.
  • Finally, you will have 60 days to submit a Canada PR visa application.

Creating more than one EE profile a rat race to Canada PR

You create an EE profile, get CRS rank, match cut-off, and qualify to apply for PR. Everyone knows that that getting an ITA for PR is like a lottery system, you match the cut-off you win the Canada PR lottery. But in a desperate attempt to get an ITA people create double profiles, for no reason.

Technically IRCC will not consider your profile if you create more than one Express Entry profile for Canada PR. A single profile allows you to update the information you share for 12 months. Thereby, giving you a chance to raise your CRS rank, However, making more than one EE profile, does not make any difference.

In a recent report, it was seen that the number of people doing the same was increasing each year.

  • As of Jan 09, 2023, there were 29,945 duplicate profiles. These profiles link with 10,229 applicants.
  • IRCC can assess it as per matching age, education level, date of birth, name etc.
  • Also, in 70% of profiles, there is no change in the CRS rank.
  • Besides, 53% of profiles are not active in the Express Entry pool for more than 100 days.
  • Moreover, between October and November, there is a 57% rise in people creating more than one express entry profile for Canada PR.

So, the answer is what is the use of creating more than one express entry profile? Instead, you should focus on raising your CRS rank to get an ITA for a PR visa. However, you can also be patient and wait for the CRS cut-off to fall. Because the CRS cut-off keeps on changing with every draw. No two draws have the same CRS cut-off.

How to qualify for ITA for Canada PR?

If you worry that you will not qualify in an Express Entry (EE) draw then you need to focus on raising your CRS rank and to do so you can:

Get a Canada job offer

If you get an LMIA-approved Canada job offer, then you will get:

NOC 0, 1, 2, 3 job offer – 50 CRS points.

NOC 00 – 200 CRS points.

Raise language skill level

You can choose to retake your English (IELTS/CELPIP) and or French (TCF/TEF) language test. As per the same, you will get a higher rank.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) – Express Entry (EE) System

A. Core/Human Capital Factors – Language Skills: Applying with spouse – 150 points | Applying without spouse – 160 points.

B. Spouse or Common-law partner – Language Skills: 20 points

C. Skill Transferability

  • Education factor: Language skills + post-secondary education – 50 points.
  • Foreign work experience: Language skills (CLB 7 or more) + post-secondary education – 50 points.
  • Trade Certificate (For applicants from skilled trades): Language skills and trade certificate – 50 points.

D. Additional Points – French language skills – 50 points

Get a Provincial Nomination Certificate

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) helps provinces and territories to exclusively select you as per your in-demand skills. So, you must apply to the province/territory where your skills and job profile are in high demand. As per the same, you can apply to enhanced PNPs.

These are PNP categories that are linked to the Express Entry (EE) System. As a result, when you get a provincial nomination certificate (PNC) against your EE profile you get an extra 600 CRS score. This gives you an added advantage towards getting an ITA for a PR visa as per your now higher CRS rank.

Further, other notable ways to raise CRS rank is by gaining additional work experience and education. But looking at the above information, it must be clear to you as to why you should not create more than an Express Entry (EE) profile for a Canada PR visa.
