Sudbury Rural Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)
On March 23, Sudbury launched its RNIP program. It is one of the 11 communities participating in the RNIP.
The pilot includes communities such as:
- North Bay, Ontario – Launch delayed
- Sudbury, Ontario
- Timmins, Ontario – Opening soon
- Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
- Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Brandon, Manitoba
- Altona/Rhineland, Manitoba
- Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan – Was expected to start in April, but has been postponed
- Claresholm, Alberta
- Vernon, British Columbia
- West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), British Columbia – Expected to launch in May
Sudbury RNIP program helps skilled workers and their families to live, settle and work in this community. To apply to this program, you must have a job offer from the community. But, this job offer must be in an eligible occupation in an eligible industry.
Despite Canada’s travel restrictions, the community is continuing to admit applicants who have a job offer in the mining industry as well as in the tourism sector. Furthermore, Sudbury uses a point-based system just like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the federal Express Entry system and ranks applicants as per its selection factors. After that, it selects qualifying profiles with the minimum qualifying score to apply for community recommendation for permanent residence in Canada.
