Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island (PEI) is one of the three maritime provinces of Canada. Being the smallest province in Canada in land and population, it is also known to as ‘the Island’ by its people. Also, it is densely populated and covers about 2,170 sq. miles in size. Further, PEI has 3 counties Prince, Queens, and Kings.

The Island has dunes in the north and natural harbours in the south and east. In addition, it has a 1,100 km shoreline with its highs and lows of Redstone cliffs. Undoubtedly, such beautiful scenes have rightfully earned the island the title of the ‘Garden of the Gulf’. Besides, the world’s largest Confederate Bridge (8 miles long) not only adds to the beauty of the island but also connects with New Brunswick.

Around, 154,750 people are residents of PEI with Charlottetown being its capital. It is the largest city in the province. PEI has a diverse economy with farming being one of its key sectors. Other sectors include fisheries, bio-space, tourism, IT, aerospace, and renewable energy.
