OINP International Graduate Stream

The OINP International Graduate Stream aims to get foreign students with a master’s or PhD. degree from Ontario. One can choose to apply to either the Master’s Graduate Stream or the PhD. Graduate Stream.


Masters Graduate Stream

This stream is for foreign students who have a master’s degree from an Ontario University. It allows them to apply for permanent residence without a job offer. Profiles meeting the program terms get a nomination from OINP. And can then apply to IRCC for permanent residence.


Who can apply to the Masters Graduate Stream?

To apply you need to meet the following terms:

  1. Firstly, have a master’s degree from an Ontario University.
  2. Secondly, your degree must have been for 1 year. And should be full-time in nature.
  3. Third, you must apply to OINP under this stream within 2 years after completing masters degree.
  4. Also, must be living in Ontario with legal status. OINP also considers people with implied status at the time of application.
  5. Finally, have CLB 7 language skill level in English/French.

  1. Show proof of funds to settle in Ontario.
  2. Have proof of 12-24 months of residence in Ontario before applying to OINP.
  3. Have an interest in living and working in Ontario.
  4. Also, you must not have an interest in further studies in Ontario.


How to apply?

  1. You must check your eligibility.
  2. Have all supporting documents.
  3. Also, make sure your application is complete for the program.
  4. You need to upload complete and clear papers on the e-filling portal.
  5. The online application process can take approx. 2 hours. But you can complete the process within 14 days or the registration will expire.
  6. Once an online application is in OINP, it cannot be edited.
  7. All your papers should be in English or French. You need to translate or notarize if they are not.
  8. If OINP selects your profile, then you will get a Letter of Approval and certificate of nomination.
  9. After selection, you must apply for permanent residence to IRCC within 6 months.


Ph.D. Graduate Stream

This stream is for foreign students who have a masters degree from eligible Ontario University. It allows them to apply for permanent residence without a job offer. Profiles meeting the program terms get a nomination from OINP and can then apply to IRCC for permanent residence.


Who can apply?

  1. Must have a PhD degree from an eligible Ontario University.
  2. Degree must have been for at least 2 years and should be full-time in nature.
  3. Apply for OINP under this stream within 2 years after getting a PhD degree.
  4. Must be a resident of Ontario with legal status. OINP also considers people with implied status at the time of application.
  5. Show proof of funds for settlement in Ontario.
  6. Show proof of 12-24 months of residence in Ontario before applying to OINP.
  7. Also, have an interest in living and working in Ontario.
