High remuneration

If you are eligible for points for your skilled employment or job offer, you may also be eligible for20 bonus points if your remuneration for that employment is at or above $48.58 per hour or theequivalent annual salary.

There are two different levels of remuneration used to determine whether your employment isskilled and one remuneration level available for bonus points:

  • a) If your occupation is at ANZSCO skill levels 1–3, you must earn at or above $24.29 per hour(or $50,523 per year based on a 40 hour week).
  • b) If your occupation is not at ANZSCO skill levels 1–3, you must earn at or above $36.44 per hour(or $75,795 per year based on a 40 hour week).
  • c) If you are claiming points for skilled employment and the remuneration for that employment isat or above $48.58 per hour (or $101,046 per year based on a 40 hour week), you may be eligible for 20 bonuspoints.

Areas of absolute skills shortage

These areas are occupations in which New Zealand has an ongoing and sustained shortage of skilled workers. These are listed on the Long Term Skill Shortage List (http://skillshortages.immigration.govt.nz). You can be awarded points if you can show that your current employment oroffer of employment meets the specifications of the list and that you are suitably qualified and/orexperienced for the occupation. You can also be awarded bonus points if your work experience is in anarea of absolute skills shortage.
