What is Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream to get a Canada business PR visa?

The Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream (RES) helps the province nominate potential entrepreneurs for Canada. This way the province gets innovative businesspersons who can grow and contribute to its economy.

By applying to RES, you can get a nomination. After being nominated you can apply to IRCC for a Canada PR visa.

 

Who can apply to Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream (RES) for nomination?

To apply to Alberta RES, you must meet the following terms:

  • Firstly, a minimum work experience
    • Either 3 years as a business owner/manager or
    • 4 years as a senior manager in the past 10 years.
  • Secondly, have a minimum of a high school education.
    • Submit an ECA report for outside Canada education. 
  • Also, have a minimum of CLB 4 level language skill level in English/French.
  • Besides, have:
    • A minimum net worth of CAD 300,000.
    • A minimum business investment of CAD 100,000.
  • After setting up a business:
    • A 51% ownership for new business. Also, business partners must be Canadian or PR holders.
    • 100% business ownership for business succession.
  • Moreover, your business must create at least 1 full-time job for a Canadian or PR holder.
  • Finally, have a community support letter from 1 of the 55 participating rural communities.

 

How to apply for nomination for Canada PR under Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream (RES)?

To get a Canada business PR visa via Alberta, apply to the Alberta RES:

  • Firstly, submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the AAIP portal.
  • Secondly, AAIP will review your profile by looking at:
    • EOI profile information
    • Business Proposal Summary
    • Net Worth Worksheet
    • Community Support Letter
  • Also, you will get an EOI score as per the Alberta RES Points Grid.
  • Besides, AAIP will invite you to apply for nomination if you have a higher EOI score.
  • After getting an invitation submit a business proposal to AAIP.
  • Post approval you will get:
    • A Business Performance Agreement.
    • Support letter for Canada work permit.

After getting a letter of support you can apply for a Canada work permit of 2 years. Further, you can set up your business, and after meeting your BPA terms, apply for a nomination letter to Alberta.

Thus, once you get a nomination letter you can apply for a Canada PR visa to IRCC.
