Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan
Marco Mendicino, P.C., M.P. (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration) tables the Government of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2020-2022.
The Immigration Levels Plan 2020-2022 aims to keep up, the country’s high immigrant intake. Besides, the record-breaking immigrant inflow of 341,000 in 2019, Canada aims to welcome more than 1 million new permanent residents in the next 3 years.
If you are looking for Canada immigration, then you must apply now. It cannot get better than this.
Canada is going to open its doors for new permanent residents:
- 341,000 in 2020,
- 351,000 in 2021
- 361,000 in 2022
It is once again aiming to break its immigration targets. As can be seen from the 2019 record of 241,000. This figure crossed the 2018 mark of 230,000. Canada realizes that a major part of its population is growing old at a faster rate with a low birth rate. As a result, it needs foreign immigrants more than ever to grow its economy.
Canada sets high immigration targets
Looking at the country’s figures in 2019. Canada has set high targets for 2020-2022. In addition, it has reintroduced multi-year level plan. Thus, we can be sure that foreign immigrants are in for a mega treat. Because these plans help the country in preparing to welcome and offer the best services to new permanent residents.
The country will give permanent residence to 58% of applications from the economic class immigration programs.
The country plans to get the maximum number of people from:
- Express Entry (EE) Program
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
- Quebec’s immigration programs
- Other streams such as Atlantic Immigration Pilot
At the present time, Canada is inviting nearly 10,000 people every year for permanent residence. In comparison to 2019, the target for PNP programs will grow by 20% in 2022. And more people will get admission under various pilots. Like, 5200 people will come through pilots such as the Agri-Food Immigration Pilot and Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is planning to welcome about 5000 people. As can be seen, the govt is keeping the AIP target the same for all 3 years.
In addition, 26% will get permanent residence through the Family Class Immigration whereas 16% will come under humanitarian and compassionate grounds. However, for the family class, the govt has set a target of 91,000 for all 3 years.
Moreover, it is expected that Canada might once again break its immigration targets in 2020.
Note
Quebec has the power to set its immigration targets. It is yet to share its plans for 2021-2022. As a result, the table only shows the data for 2020. However, the province has set its 2020 target at 25,000.
Canada Immigration Levels Plan: A win-win situation for both Canada and immigrants
The current targets are going to benefit both the country and people looking for a Canada PR. The reason being:
Firstly Canada,
- Needs foreigners to meet its economic and labour force needs,
- Because its population is growing old fast with a low birth rate. Thus, the country needs people to support its high living standards.
Secondly, immigrants will always choose Canada because:
- Canada immigration is at an all-time high. In other words, it is the hottest place to live, settle and work in.
- It has a developed economy, high salaried job opportunities, free education and health services, and a great quality of life. So how can anyone, not choose to make this country their new home.
Looking at the above reasons, the 2020-2022 targets are purposely set high by the govt. As Canada has everything an individual can dream of. Thus, anyone and everyone will choose to apply for a Canada PR.
Note
By November, the immigration minister plans to share another Immigration Levels Plan. The new plan will have targets for the year 2023.
