Canada Creates New Task Force To Meet Immigration Delays
Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has announced that Canada will create a new task force to meet immigration delays. The PM shared that the delays in the processing of Canada visa applications, and passport delays were unacceptable.
As a result, the minister will be making a new team that will include a major number of ministers. Together they all will assess the areas which need immediate attention. Also, this will help to create long-term and short-term plans to clear the backlog and improve the quality of services.
Canada creates new task force to meet immigration delays. But this need comes from the 2.4 million backlogs in the immigration system. Also, this number is rising with every passing moment. A few details of the same are the following:
- April 29 – June 01, 2022 – 257,499 additional applicants in the system.
- June 01, 2022 – Backlog stands at 1,471,000 for temporary residence visas.
- In comparison to April 29, 2022, this figure has an addition of 216,380 applications. But such a rise in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program applications is very normal for Canada.
- The Express Entry (EE) System application backlog is 31,600. Now, this is a 9000 figure drop since April 2022.
The above figures may seem demotivating but the new IRCC measure such as:
- Resuming of Express Entry all program EE draws – FSW/FST/CEC from July 06, 2022.
- Application processing timing is to be brought back to the standard processing period of 6 months.
- The hiring of more new staff to aid in fast-tracking the immigration process.
- Investing in infusing technology with the immigration system. To offer ease of access, clarity, faster application processing, and decision making.
