2 Alberta Express Entry draws invite 320 applicants for a Canada PR

On April 1 and April 14, 2020, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program held 2 provincial draws. The selected applicants had an Express Entry (EE) profile and can now apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The two AINP draws invited a total of 320 applicants. The April 1 draw chose 120 applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 381 whereas the April 14 draw selected 200 applicants with a CRS score of 343.

Even though applicants did not need a job offer they still needed to have an active profile in the Express Entry (EE) system to qualify in the draw.

Also, if these applicants get a provincial nomination against their EE profile then they will get an extra 600 CRS score. As a result, they will surely receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada.

The Express Entry (EE) System

The Express Entry system handles profiles from 3 main economic class immigration streams such as:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

And if you qualify for Express Entry (EE) then it means that you meet its selection factors such as:

  • Age
  • Language
  • Work Experience
  • Education Level

As per the above terms, your profile gets a CRS score. If your CRS score is equal to higher than the qualifying CRS score then you will get an ITA.

How can you qualify in the Alberta Express Entry Stream?

To qualify, EE applicants must be working in a job profile that grows the economy of Alberta. Though, AINP does not give a list of eligible occupations.

Even though an applicant does not need a job offer to qualify, AINP has said that it will give importance to applicants who:

  • Firstly, have a job offer and or work experience in Alberta.
  • Secondly, have a Canadian post-secondary degree and a valid job offer; or
  • Have a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta.

As of now in 2020 Alberta has given 1,207 invites to EE applicants for a Canada PR. Also, Alberta is yet to share its provincial nominations allocations for 2020.

However, looking at the current rise in Express Entry draws and selection of profiles from Canadian Experience Class stream and applicants with a provincial nomination such as Alberta Express Entry stream, we can expect Canada to admit a high number of skilled immigrants.

Such draws show that Canada immigration trends are positive and are on a constant rise.
